Live experiment  /  open worldwide  /  runs until we reach a million

The M1llion

A social experiment first. Twenty-five people second.

One million people, one euro each at minimum, to clean up an island and to find out whether social connection alone can move a million strangers to act. Give more if you want to. It buys you nothing extra, and that is the point. Separately, and free to enter, twenty-five people are offered the chance to co-own the company behind it.

Your euro

One euro arrives whole, and you can see where it lands.

Most crowdfunding quietly loses a third of every small payment to the bank. We refuse to let the pot show a number that is not really there, so the payment costs are charged on top and named out loud. Your euro is a euro.

  • 01
A share in cleaning up an island

Your euro is ring-fenced for TENE, a waste collection programme for Curaçao that pays the people doing the collecting instead of relying on goodwill. Not a pledge, not a pot that sits still: it is spent, and the spending is published line by line.

  • 02
Your name in the public ledger

Every contributor is listed, numbered in order of arrival, unless you ask to stay anonymous. Contributor 1 and contributor 999,999 sit in the same list.

  • 03
    The full experiment report

When this ends, whether at a million or well short of it, you get the complete write-up: what worked, what stalled, where people dropped off, and the raw numbers behind it.

What you actually pay

Into the pot€1.00
Payment costs, at cost€0.30
Total charged once€1.30

One into the pot is the minimum. Choose a larger amount and the whole of it still lands in the pot, with the payment cost recalculated on top rather than skimmed off. The counter tracks the pot, never the gross. Costs are passed through exactly as our provider charges them and reconciled publicly every month. If a partner sponsors the rails, the surcharge drops and you pay less, not us.

The mechanics

Four numbers. That is the whole idea.

No tiers, no perks ladder, no reward that gets better the more you put in. What changes with a bigger amount is how fast we get there. What never changes is what it gets you.

1The floor, not the ceiling

One is the minimum. More is welcome.

One euro is small enough that nobody has to think twice, which is exactly why it is the entry point. Put in ten or fifty if you can and every cent of it goes to the pot. It buys you no bigger say, no better position, no extra perks and no place in the contest. Everybody is counted once.

1,000,000What we are testing

A million people who pass it on.

A million euros raised one euro at a time is not a funding round, it is a reach problem. The experiment tests one question with a countable answer: can social connection alone move a million strangers to act?

25Who gets asked

Twenty-five people, announced live.

A separate contest, free to enter, open whether or not you put in a euro. An independent jury ranks the entries and publishes a shortlist of twenty-five, then each place is confirmed live as the pot passes another 40,000. Contributing is worldwide; the contest is Europe only for now, because offering shares is regulated country by country.

1%What they are offered

The option to co-own one percent.

Each selected entrant is offered a 1% stake in Dijkstra B.V., the company running TENE, held through a foundation so the certificates are real and transferable. It is an offer, not an obligation. Anyone can decline, and the terms are published before entries open. Twenty-five places over a million is one place for every 40,000 raised, so if we fall short there are fewer places, never smaller ones.

Why it exists

Three things happen at once.

Social experiment

A clean test with a measurable outcome. If a million people say yes to one euro, connection creates value in a way you can count. If they do not, we publish that result too, with the full data behind it.

Result published either way

Social movement

Nobody reaches a million alone. This only works if each person hands it to the next, which makes every contributor both a participant and the distribution channel. No ad budget, by design.

Growth by hand, not by ad spend

Social engagement

Everything is in the open: the running total, where the money sits, what it is spent on, who the jury is, and how they decide. You are not asked to trust a promise, you are asked to watch a ledger.

Public ledger, public jury

The 25

Free to enter. Decided on merit, never on luck.

Twenty-five percent of the company is set aside before a single euro comes in, split into equal parts of one percent. To be considered you answer one question in your own words: what would you do with one percent of a company built to help people? An independent jury reads every entry and selects the strongest, down to one place for every 40,000 raised.

  • CostNothing. Entering is free and stays free.
  • WhoAnyone 18 or over living in the European Economic Area, contributor or not. Contributing makes no difference to your chances.
  • Decided byAn independent jury on the strength of your answer. Not luck, not who shouts loudest.
  • AnnouncedRanked shortlist on 25 February 2027, live, with every juror named and the criteria published in advance.
  • ConfirmedOne place at a time, each 40,000 the pot passes, announced on the day.
  • Opens1 December 2026, closes 11 January 2027. Full refund for everyone if it has not opened by 1 March 2027.
  • Offered1% each, held as certificates through a foundation. An offer you are free to decline.
  • How manyOne place for every 40,000 raised, which is simply the million split twenty-five ways. Fewer places if we fall short, never smaller ones.
The euro and the contest are separate

Contributing does not enter you, and entering does not ask you for money. We built it this way on purpose: the moment a payment buys a chance at something, it stops being an experiment and starts being a lottery. This is not one.

It is also why anyone anywhere can contribute while the contest runs in Europe only for now. Shares are regulated country by country; a payment is not.

Entries open 1 December 2026. Until then the jury is being finalised and the foundation that holds the certificates is being set up by a notary. If it has not opened by 1 March 2027, every contributor is refunded in full. The rules are published in full already, so you can read them long before you decide anything.

Take part

Ready to contribute 1?

Your euro joins the pot, your name joins the ledger, and your contributor number lands in your inbox the moment the payment clears. Then send this to one person. That is the entire ask.

Contributions are collected by a regulated payment provider and held in a separate account. If the target is not met within twelve months, the pot is handled exactly as described in the terms and the outcome is published either way. Nothing here is an investment and no return is promised.

€1.30 €1.00 to the pot
€0.30 to the bank

One into the pot is the floor, not the ceiling. More is welcome and all of it goes to the pot. It buys you nothing extra. We cap it at 250 on purpose: this is a crowd, not a cap table.

Full disclosure

What we are still building in the open.

An experiment that asks for trust has to be honest about what is finished and what is not. These are being put in place with our lawyers and published here the moment they land.

Share structure

How the stakes are issued, held and transferred, drafted with a civil-law notary and published in full before entries open.

Securities filing

Offering equity to the public is regulated. The filing and the list of countries we can accept entries from are on the terms page.

Jury and criteria

Who reads the entries, how they score them, and how we keep the process auditable. Named before the first entry is submitted.

The agreement

TENE runs on an agreement with the government of Curaçao that is not signed yet. That is the main risk, and the terms say what happens if it does not come.
